Overall First Impressions

Cadillac’s 2013 new-model return to large luxury comes with an inherent gamble, that Americans want to buy, and will continue to want to buy, large luxury machines. Their answer is in the luxury-quality looks, handling, ride, and their new integrated CUE system. With compact cars now outselling mid-size ones, there seems to be no evidence to support this plan. Then again, perhaps the luxury segment is different. But do American consumers want their staple luxury sedans, in an even larger package? This model says - undoubtedly, yes.

Cadillac bills the XTS as a replacement for both the STS and the aging DTS sedan and a way to attract both brand traditionalists and import-intending buyers. In old-school Cadillac tradition, the XTS is big - longer than a short-wheelbase 7-series. All-wheel-drive with an electronic limited-slip differential is available as a $2225 extra on all but the base trim level.

Cadillac SRX 2013 Review

The 2013 SRX has been updated with minor exterior tweaks and interior upgrades. Most owners would have to have them pointed out. But the key is that now the SRX competes with Lincoln MKX, Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz, GLK-Class, and Lexus RX 350. There have also been upgrades to Cadillac's CUE interface.

Exterior

Curious design improvements include a deeper grille and front fender vents which now incorporate LED light "pipes". While 18-inch wheels are standard, new 20-inch wheels now come in chrome and polished aluminum. Additional paint colors have arrived in green, blue, and silver.

Interior

Added features to the SRX's cabin features include a new shift knob design and some new surfaces and colors, as well as a new steering wheel with the new buttons required to control CUE's added features. Also a new instrument panel includes three bright gauges and an LCD screen.
